Beauty and the Depths - Prue

"She sprouted love like flowers,
Grew a garden in her mind,
And even on the darkest days,
From her smile the sun still shined."

A Personal Project

I have this new passion for film photography, this love for the mood and rawness you can capture.

We sat chatting one night discussing about photography and personal projects we wanted to start. We both wanted to capture what it is to be female and finding something beyond the perfect. So we have embarked on a little project together with no name, to discovering the darkness behind beauty.

Cassie and I are looking to extend this series, so if there’s anyone out there willing to model for us, get in touch at mail@reneeblakedesign.com

getting away from the city - personal work

Shooting film has become a new hobby I enjoy doing. I'm slowly learning how to shoot film, most of the time I don't know what I'm doing and just hope I get something when they are developed. I think thats what I love about film, you just don't know what you're going to get. I love surprises!

The other week after a long chat about wanting to shoot more film, I went out with Jai Long, Oli Sansom and John Deer and shot some medium format film using my Seagull Twin Lens Reflex Camera with expired film. We went out to one of my favourite places in Victoria. I love coming here and getting away from the city. We brought old cameras and loads of film and explored this beautiful place.

Studio Albums - Lara Luz

It is a bittersweet moment for me, sending off a design. I fall in love with the images and layout but never get to see the real life printed version.  I love it when clients send me images of the finished product, ready and waiting for their clients to cherish.

Recently, I designed a few sample albums for Lara Luz, a Melbourne Wedding Photographer.  She chose different sizes and cover options to show off what Vision Art can create for her clients. Here are a few images that she sent me of the final products in book form!

We worked together to create the design and the covers. After seeing images there are always cover options that stand out more to me. Vision Art have so many different options when it comes to their covers. I find it is always a good idea to go with the style of the wedding or session. There always seems to be a colour and fabric to match the tones of the images!

When it comes to choosing fonts, I have a large selection and am able to find more depending on the book. Again, this is another part of the design which is linked more to the couple and their style.

I’m excited for Lara to show these off to her clients. Lara and I share the same sentiment when it comes to such memorable images. There is something so amazing about flipping through your wedding images compared to scrolling through them on a screen. Emotions seems more real, moments seem more personal. Having albums for potential clients to peruse gives them a small taste of what it would be like to hold their own book. They end up selling themselves!
